Haiti Relief Campaign

It has come to our attention that the seven orphans of the Al Mahdi Centre in Haiti were killed as the orphanage crumbled on top of them. But as with every tragedy comes a test for believers, we can either fail miserably or we can strive to succeed. The goal of this campaign is to provide IMMEDIATE relief.

Operation Amal (أمل: Hope)

Last week we exposed the dire situations of our Shi'i brethren in the earthquake ravaged country of Haiti. It was heartbreaking to hear the community was deprived of basic necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter. Orphans were forced to sleep in the streets of Port-au-Prince with the stench of decaying bodies overwhelming them. In efforts to escape the chaos some of the children were moved to country side, where the cold ocean breeze caused some to become sick.

Every minute, every day, the cries of the people of Haiti move our souls.

The crippled infrastructure on the island is compounding the complexity of pulling people out from the rubble, providing emergency medical help and coordinating the distribution of food and water.
