Operation Amal (أمل: Hope)
Last week we exposed the dire situations of our Shi'i brethren in the earthquake ravaged country of Haiti. It was heartbreaking to hear the community was deprived of basic necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter. Orphans were forced to sleep in the streets of Port-au-Prince with the stench of decaying bodies overwhelming them. In efforts to escape the chaos some of the children were moved to country side, where the cold ocean breeze caused some to become sick.
As followers of the Ahlul Bayt (as) we could not bear to ignore the cries for help. A public appeal was made for donations and material support. Alhamdulillah, the response has been unbelievably positive. The funds collected by the respected organizations involved in this effort have allowed us to send two teams into Haiti. The first team has already touched base in Santos Domingo and is moving towards Port-au-Prince. The objective of this team is provide food and shelter. The team is also carrying basic medicine like pain killers, ointments, and children medications. This team will play an important role in communicating vital information allowing us to adequately equip the second team that will be leaving Saturday. The second team's main objective is to provide medical care. This team has aligned itself with IMANA, Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS) and AIMER Haiti volunteers and will have a fully operational medical clinic set up in “Bojeux Parc” amusement park in Port-au-Prince. The team will transport the sick and injured to be treated.
We ask that you keep these brave souls and loyal soldiers of Imam Al Mahdi (aj) in your prayers and pray for the success of their mission.
The next two weeks will be very telling. InshaAllah, as soon as we get updates we will be post them on WWW.OPPRESSION.ORG Please continue to donate: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=11346131
